Book Review: Emotions Unplugged

My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Emotions Unplugged by Vishal Anand is a beautiful collection of mix and match stories/emotions clubbed together, giving it a form of an enjoyable book which I hope all readers will enjoy and appreciate. Being a debutant author, Vishal has done a remarkable job and has written each of the stories with utmost dedication, making every story alive and able to connect easily with the readers.

As I am feeling, that now days all my reviews are starting with a SORRY to either the author or the publisher so once again SORRY for being late with my review. But as he knows me personally well, I know he will understand this euphoriaphase of life I am going through 😉 **Wink Wink**

Coming back to the review, as I said it contains a perfect cocktail of all the emotions clubbed together. It contains 15 stories and each one  is better than another. Here is my review for each one of those:-

  • A DAY BEFORE MY DIVORCE – As the title suggests, the story is about two lead characters Diksha and Virain who are at the verge of getting divorced but the twist comes up in the story when Virain tries to meet Diksha and the whole thing between them gets ok when they realize their love for each other which was just faded because of their busy lives. This story tells that in every relation there comes the situation where we forget our inner feelings for that person and with the flow of situations we decide to break off. But if we again try to give that relation a chance and try to remember the happy moments and the positive sides of that relationship, it will possibly save that relation.
  • LET’S TURN OLDIES – It’s a nice inspirational story which an old man is trying to convey something to youngsters. But I found it a very short read. When I started getting that connection with the story, it ended making me feel incomplete.
  • THEFT – A very emotional read of a young little girl who works as a maid in a rich businessman’s house. This story is an emotional tale where many emotions are described in the restricted word count. And again this story was also with a moral that no person should be categorized as right or wrong by his/her deeds. Situations should be blamed instead of the person. Their circumstances  make them take such steps which are not acceptable by the society.
  • GRANNY’S LAST GIFT OF LOVE – A beautifully expressed story about the relationship of a Grandson with his grandmother. I could personally feel that bond, emotions and fear to lose someone close to you. Here, while reading I again lived that moment when my grandmom was ill and she died in front of my eyes. After long I actually cried after reading a story. Seriously an appreciable work done by you, Vishal!
  • THE FIRST LOVE – A sweet bubbly love story of a school guy with a happy ending . I did not find anything new in this story as it’s what we are reading since long in this writing industry. Personally felt that the story could have been better with some twist.
  • THE IMPROBABLE TRUTH – It’s a nice read which helps you to tie up your belts till it’s over. The story moves around Madhu and her life with the perfect elements of suspense in it. I enjoyed reading it.
  • A COUNTRY WITH 27 OTHER COUNTRIES – The story is about a foreigner and his visit to India. It shows both good and bad sides of the country. A nice patriotic read.
  • AFTER COLLEGE – A well described story of a girl named ‘Aditi’ who make a perfect balance between her past and present responsibilities. A very strong read.
  • ONE WILD NIGHT – I will term this story as a nice hilarious one which makes you laugh even on the serious front of it. 😀 A friend taking revenge and even that revenge makes you laugh in the way it happens. Different story and a hilarious read.
  • AND GOD SAID YES!– This story threw light on caste discrimination. It gave a good message of the sense of brotherhood, humanity and religion equality. A couple after so many years were expecting their child and the happiness on their faces was beautifully narrated.
  • THE VEILED GIRL – A beautiful plot of a love story which reveals the truth that love is simply the magic of unconditional understanding and partnership. The story unveils the ugly truth of our society to see a raped victim girl.
  • THE GROOM – I read this story twice. This is the best story which I found so far in this book. A story in which today’s girl can easily relate to herself. A beautiful bond of a Father with his daughter to whom he wants to get married and settle down. But the girl wants to set up her dreams and be on her feet to face the world. It was a pleasure reading as I felt it was somewhere my story. I enjoyed reading it a lot.
  • THE MISUNDERSTANDING – As the title suggests, the story is about two friends, where one wishes birthday to the other and he responds rudely, following   The story tells that one should prioritize whether the relation matters or the misunderstandings between them. And if the relation really matters to you then you should keep everything aside and talk to that person directly to clear off all misunderstandings.
  • FLOWERS OF HOPE – An emotional tale with a strong message in it. Kiran, a baby and the society surrounds the complete story. Real life heroes can be seen with naked eyes if we have that sight of looking at them optimistically.
  • KARMA RETURNS – As I read the title of the last story, First thing which hit my mind was the award winning title of my favorite author Preeti Singh, ‘Flirting with Fate – karma always returns’, s it was the book after which I myself started believing in Karma and it’s games. Coming to the story, here also it’s about a duo relationship of a father with his spoilt brat. A nice inspirational read.

As far as the cover of the book is concerned, I didn’t find it suitable for the book. But as we readers do not know the reason behind the thought process of the author while choosing the same, so I gather  there might be some reason behind it too.

The book is like a roller coaster ride which takes you to a quick overview of every emotion. An effective way of narration by putting some famous quotations by visionary authors in context to the stories is presented beautifully by the author. Overall it’s a must read book and I would personally like to recommend this to my readers. A great work done by Vishal as a debutant. Wish to read more coming from your pen Vishal. Wish you luck and success.
